Perilunate Dislocation

Perilunate Dislocation is a rare but serious condition that most often occurs when breaking a fall from a height or a jump with an outstretched hand, as in basketball, football, skiing, BMX or skateboarding (full pipes more than street courses).

A traumatic rupture of ligaments in the carpal bones of the wrist that leads to severe instability, Perilunate Dislocation manifests with pain, swelling and numbness of the fingers, though these symptoms can be mistaken for a severe sprain. Immediate treatment of the dislocation is necessary in order to prevent serious complications and most often demand some kind of surgical intervention.
