Posterior Elbow Dislocation

Posterior Elbow Dislocations occur when a traumatic event like a backwards fall onto outstretched arms results in the back of the elbow being knocked out of alignment. The most common type of elbow dislocation, this condition is often the result of a fall during a sports activity like skiing, snowboarding or skating and manifests itself in intense pain and a severe restriction in range of motion.

In simple cases, relocation of the elbow is possible without opening up the elbow, although more complex instances (with suspected fractures, ligament injuries and/or neurovascular damage) may entail surgical intervention.
